We enjoyed two films at the Alaska Encounter: Alaska Earthquake and Alaska Wildlife. Denise bought a copy of the Northern Lights video for us to enjoy later. We had lunch at the Bear Paw, and then hiked and sunk knee deep in mud at the Earthquake Park, an Anchorage park in memory of the 8.6 magnitude (Richter Scale) earthquake of Good Friday, 1964 that resulted in a portion of the city falling into the sea. We met Rev. Alonzo B. Patterson, who wears hats of Executive Minister of the Alaska Region, Senior Pastor of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church (our host church this week), and ABHMS area coordinator; busy man! We enjoyed some delicious Moosetooth Pizza and connected with the Prairie Baptist group and friends from Anchorage over dinner with integrated seating. All in all, today was a blast!
Pray for us as we enter our first day of deep learning at the Alaska Native Heritage Center Thursday morning with our partners in ministry from Prairie, then continue with help setting up and cleaning up a July 4th community picnic at Shiloh.
